Does driving to a railway station and leaving my car there count as commuting?

- Check your certificate and policy wording for the definition of commuting.
- Tell the insurer that you park at a station before travelling to work.
- Do not assume that because the car never reaches the workplace it is purely social use.
- Make sure your overnight and daytime parking information remains accurate.
What can make a difference?
The result can depend on your level of cover, exclusions, excess, information given when the policy was arranged or renewed, who was driving, and the precise circumstances. Two policies both described as “comprehensive” can still contain different terms.
